We've been renting boards in Cocoa Beach for 15 years, and we still haven't raised our prices. Everything else around you has gone up. We've worked hard to keep our rates where they are while still handing you top tier equipment. Whatever you rent out of this shop, you're renting some of the best gear we put out on the water.

How long is a half-day paddleboard rental?

Four hours, and you're not clocked hour by hour. The whole window is yours: load up, drive to the launch, get in the water, paddle, then load back up when you're done. No one's watching a stopwatch on you.

Is four hours enough time to paddle?

We set the rentals up this way 15 years ago, and the reason is stamina, not logistics.

"Most of the time people can't really paddle for more than one or two hours anyways, because it is a physical activity. And about an hour or two worth of time is really the extent of everyone's stamina." Jennifer, paddleboard specialist at Epic Boardsports

If you're a beginner, an hour on the water is usually about all you'll want. Advanced paddlers who've built up stamina can go longer. Four hours covers either one comfortably, which is why we've never bothered charging by the hour.

Does a paddleboard rental include a paddle and life jacket?

Yes. The rate covers everything you need to get on the water, so there's nothing to add on at the counter.

The paddles are worth a mention, since they matter more than most people expect. Ours are light, strong, adjustable two-piece paddles, the kind that work for a first-timer and an advanced rider on the same day. A heavy paddle is what turns an hour on the water into a chore, and we don't compromise on that gear.

Can you try a paddleboard before you buy one?

Yes, and we built a demo program specifically for it. A demo session on one of our premium boards is $70, and that $70 gets credited toward your purchase if you decide to buy.

That's a different thing from a standard rental. A $35 half day is for a fun morning on the water. A demo is for someone narrowing down a real purchase and wanting to feel the difference between two boards before spending several hundred dollars.

Depends what you're after, and we'll be straight with you: we're not the cheapest option in town. There are outfits nearby renting by the hour for less, and if your only goal is the lowest possible number, they'll beat us on price.

What you get for $35 is four unhurried hours on gear we'd ride ourselves. Ryan, who rented from us this spring, said it better than we can: "Great equipment in new condition which is rare with water sports."

You also get a conversation before you leave the shop about where to launch and what the wind is doing that day. Cocoa Beach has calm, protected water five minutes from us, and it has days where a beginner will fight chop the entire session.
